I’m excited to announce that New York is going to be my next home and Boxee is going to be my next project.
In Buenos Aires earlier this year, Jules and I decided that if ever there was a time to live the New York dream, it was now. The short version of what happened next is: I called Boxee’s Head of Product Zach Klein, flew out to New York two weeks later to meet the team, and now, two months later, Visa in hand, I’m flying starting work on Monday.
Boxee is an exciting company. It’s in a disrupted industry, solving a big problem – what does the future of media look like now that it’s connected to the web?
Boxee has a great team, led by its no-nonsense founders. They’ve been here before and I believe in them. Boxee is a technology company, an organic startup, and obsessed with product. Boxee has a million passionate users and I want to be a part of growing that number to 100 million.
Zach Klein is someone I’ve admired ever since I first read a New Yorker article about him in 2005. I owe him special thanks for pushing me into the company in the first place. I can’t wait to start working with him and the rest of the expanding New York team.
The other thing that draws me to Boxee is the smart people backing it – Bijan Sabet at Spark Capital, Fred Wilson at Union Square Ventures and Neil Sequeira at General Catalyst Partners.
I’m going to learn a lot.
Native Digital will keep rolling. Ben, my co-founder and Creative Director, Andrew McMillen, my trusty off-sider and Ned Dwyer our new partner, will be taking over operations while I’ll stay involved in strategy. Native Digital has built some great things in its short life and its success has been incredibly rewarding for me personally. Needless to say, it was a hard decision to step back from something I have dedicated my heart and soul to for almost two years.
I didn’t think I’d be an employee again. But I’m looking forward to a new challenge, a new city and the chance to put my boat in a fast-moving stream.
Who knows where it might lead.

Hey Congrats mate,
Always fascinating to see what you’re up to. Don’t be a stranger with us Brisbanites now you’re in the big apple! Look forward to hearing how you settle in!
Nice one Nick. Good on you for making the leap of faith to move to New York. Looks like an interesting company to be working with.
Big smoke? Big news! Boxee’s been sitting in my Apps folder for a long time, never really getting a look-in because I already had an AppleTV. I’ll go take another look. Hope you have a great time in NY with Boxee. Play nicely with the Americans, dear.
Congrats mate. Big move and exciting company. Have no doubt you’ll bring excellent ideas and vision to your new home.

Well done Nick. I also have the ‘NY dream’ so I’m really looking forward to hearing of your adventures. Actually maybe I won’t because i’ll be jealous as hell! Massochistic inspiration.
You have a great team around you as well, so I’m sure you will learn heaps!
Keep inspiring mate, even if it hurts the rest of us to watch just how much you can

Yes, I can see 100,000,000 of these boxee devices possible in the next 2-3 years.
They are hot !!!
Hello hello. Greets from Unplggd.com!
Looks like Boxee’s got quite a bit of talent coming their way. Do you guys know if Boxee is looking for any UX interns this summer? I’m completely in love (I mean it) with what you guys are doing and would like to contribute!
Congrats, Nick. It’s great to see Aussies making a splash in the wider WWW. Boxee is already an amazing product. You can feel the love.
